MBTI is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator which is used to identify one’s personality type. MBTI has 16 personality types. Through this article, one can easily understand the types under MBTI.
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator helps one to identify and find out one’s own personality type. This includes 16 different types of personalities with the help of few acronyms. The acronyms use letters E, I, S, N, T, F, J, and P. Let us first see what these letters stand for:
- E stands for extraversion which expresses the socializing and outgoing person.
- I stands for introversion which explains a person to be more of reserved nature and self-observant.
- S stands for sensing which expresses a person as one who focuses on objective facts and cause and effect relations.
- N stands for iNtuition which expresses a person to be more of introspective nature, i.e., thoughtful and self-examining.
- T stands for thinking which explains one to be tough-minded, i.e., strong-willed people who are always ready to face reality.
- F stands for the feeling which simply explains friendliness and cooperation.
- J stands for judging which expresses firm decisions and sticking to plans.
- P stands for perceiving which explains more of flexible and open-minded people.
These are grouped together with 4 letters each and form a total of 16 different personality types. Let us see what they are:
- INTJ: This personality type stands for introversion, intuition, thinking, and judging. People with this type are generally referred to as The Architect as they have a good imagination, and plan everything strategically, and feel that plans are very important for the conduct of any task no matter big or small.
- INTP: This personality type stands for introversion, intuition, thinking, and perceiving. People with this type are referred to as The Logicians as they have innovative minds and apply logic to each situation. These types show curiosity in every aspect and are interested to know more.
- ENTJ: This personality type stands for extraversion, intuition, thinking, and judging. These types are referred to as The Commander as they are bold, have a good sense for imagination coupled with a strong will to carry forward any task.
- ENTP: This personality type stands for extraversion, intuition, thinking, and perceiving. People with this type are referred to as The Debater as they are smart and are believed to have an intellectual perspective with a curious mind.
- INFJ: This personality type stands for introversion, intuition, feeling, and judging. People with this type are referred to as The Advocate as they are idealists and have creative minds. They are highly focused on the future and have more than average moral standards. They are sensitive towards others.
- INFP: This personality type stands for introversion, intuition, feeling, and perceiving. People with this type are referred to as The Mediator as they are selfless and show concern for the well-being of others driven by high values.
- ENFJ: This personality type stands for extraversion, intuition, feeling, and judging. People with this type are referred to as The Protagonist as they possess leadership qualities naturally, they are inspiring and charismatic. They are strong influencers.
- ENFP: This personality type stands for extraversion, intuition, feeling, and perceiving. People with this type are referred to as The Campaigner as they are highly enthusiastic, have creative minds, and are sociable persons. They are naturally genial.
- ISTJ: This personality type stands for introversion, sensing, thinking, and judging. People with this type are referred to as The Inspector as they think of and use a practical perspective in each aspect. They believe in facts and are reliable as they never deviate from their responsibilities.
- ISFJ: This personality type stands for introversion, sensing, feeling, and judging. People with this type are referred to as The Defender as they are protective, reserved, and responsible. They strongly believe in firm judgments.
- ESTJ: This personality type stands for extraversion, sensing, thinking, and judging. People with this type are referred to as The Executive as they are organized and carry on their plans accordingly with punctuality.
- ESFJ: This personality type stands for extraversion, sensing, feeling, and judging. People with this type are referred to as The Caretaker because of their tender heart and outgoing characteristic. They have well-defined social skills.
- ISTP: This personality type stands for introversion, sensing, thinking, and perceiving. People with this type are referred to as The Virtuoso because of their artistic traits. They are practical and learn with experiments. (virtuoso means persons with special knowledge and interest in works of art)
- ISFP: This personality type stands for introversion, sensing, feeling, and perceiving. People with this type are referred to as The Adventurer because they are good explorers. They are artistic and enjoy exploring the present rather than worrying about the future.
- ESTP: This personality type stands for extraversion, sensing, thinking, and perceiving. People with this type referred to as The Entrepreneur. They are energetic and perceptive. They are action-oriented and focus on details by setting objectives strategically.
- ESFP: This personality type stands for extraversion, sensing, feeling, and perceiving. People with this type are referred to as The Entertainer. They have a spontaneous response to every action, are enthusiastic and very genial. They are energy boosters as they keep their crowd together and energetic.
Conclusion —
The above explanations are very brief for the easy understanding of what each personality type holds. There can also be people who possess the mix of two or more personality types from the above-mentioned. This approach may not be 100% accurate and human behavior is quite hard to predict but, these are the most common traits we see and observe in people.
